Understanding The Benefits Of Organic Personal Care Products

When it comes to your personal care products, you want to be sure that what you are using is safe and effective. Although there are hundreds of different options on the market, many people are making a shift to buying labeled organic personal care products, with the market growing steadily every day. Here are a few of the reasons why organic products have become so much more popular.

Health Concerns

Many of the mainstream personal care products are mass-produced overseas and imported into the country. This is a cost-savings measure. It's cheaper to make them overseas than it is to make them locally.

Unfortunately, when mass production became mainstream, so did the need for preservation and cost-cutting efforts. This led to the inclusion of all sorts of things in the products, from aluminum in deodorant to other chemicals and byproducts that are being used to extend shelflife and ensure the overall stability of the products.

Since there is some question about the health and safety of some of these additives, such as the potential for aluminum to contribute to breast cancer risk, many people turn to organic options to avoid these ingredients and protect their health and well-being.

Perfume Sensitivities

Everyone likes fresh-scented personal care products. From deodorants that have a clean scent to lotions with floral or tropical fragrances, the options are seemingly endless. However, many people have come to realize that a lot of these fragrances are being chemically produced, and the chemicals used to create them can cause some sensitivity issues for users.

Whether you have sensitive skin that's irritated by the fragrances or you find that the chemicals trigger your allergies, you may be looking for something that smells good but doesn't cause you these issues. Organic personal care products use natural ingredients, so any fragrance that's incorporated is found in nature and less likely to cause you irritation or problems.

Dye Concerns

A startling percentage of products on the market today are colored using artificial dyes. In recent years, research has shown that many of these colors, such as red dye #40, can contribute to reproductive and behavioral issues in rats.

This discovery has led many people to seek out alternatives that don't have these colorings. Since they are purely for aesthetics and serve no functional purpose, they are often best avoided. Organic personal care products won't include these colorings because they are not organic. Any coloring found will be naturally created using things like turmeric, beets, and similar ingredients.

About Me

costume and makeup play tips and ideas

Some of the most fun I have with my kids is when we play dress up. We have a costume weekend around our house at least once each month. During that weekend, we pull out a chest full of costumes and a big box of makeup that we use to decorate our faces. We go through a lot of makeup and have had to get very creative in how to clean makeup stains off of our skin and the furniture around the house. Our family blog contains many ideas for costume play and even several tips that can help you with cleanup after play is done.
